VOICES OF THE UNSUNG

MARVIN B. CASTRO

· Volume IV Issue I

The voices echoed through thin air

Stripped off with power, they laid bare

Their voices, faded, untrampled here and there

Behold! The heroes beyond compare

Veiled with different capes and beams

Scarred with life’s looming shadows, screams

Unbowed, unfazed, unbent, it seems

The heroes, worn out, glittered their grins

He mustered the courage to fight

She wielded power, poised the light

They succumbed to death, untold delight

The victor’s stories, adorned with bright

He, she, they. Today’s heroes, oh wow!

Their epitaph sums with glee and vow

Their unsung voices, you’ll hear somehow

Yes, they’re Filipinos, here and now.
