VOCABULARY, THE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT’S WEAKNESS IN ENGLISH:

AN ASSESSMENT

ABSTRACT

English subject has a great impact upon humankind.  Communication is more effective if the Standard English is properly followed. This reason why this paper entitled “Vocabulary, The High School Student’s Weakness in English: An Assessment” because it aims to give emphasis as part of teaching-learning process.

Relative to the students’ responses in the survey tests, this study proves that learners from Grade 7 to Grade 10 of Dr. Francisco L. Calingasan Memorial Colleges Foundation Inc. indicated that they moderately practiced their vocabulary skills.

INTRODUCTION

There is no other period in the world when English Language has been making greatest impact upon humankind. English has a great contribution in any aspects in this world. 

This research gives the investigation in the problems encountered by Junior High school students of DFLCMCFI in English Subject during the Month of October 2016. This study results the specific problem faced by the students in English. 

Since English is the Universal Language, Educational systems, including that of the Philippines, have been trying hard to improve the English Curricula and instructions. 

METHODOLOGY

The research sampling method that the researcher used in this study is purposive sampling which based on the variety of data. This study used descriptive survey to determine and assess the various parameters related to subject of the study and its effect to the students.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

This chapter presents the data collected where the researcher is given interpretation and analysis.

In the table 1, you will be found out the status of teaching vocabulary in English is to be weak as perceived by the survey test respondents.
