ABSTRACT

Vocabulary learning strategies are techniques that learners use to acquire, retain, and use vocabulary more effectively. With the growing importance of English as a global language, it has become crucial for learners to acquire a vast vocabulary to communicate effectively in various contexts. Therefore, understanding the vocabulary learning strategies that learners use is crucial for teachers and learners to identify the most effective methods to improve vocabulary learning outcomes. This research aims to explore and evaluate the different vocabulary learning strategies that learners use to enhance their vocabulary knowledge and provide insights into how these strategies can be applied in the language classroom. The study was made by the means of descriptive research design. The researcher attempted to get the answers to the problem and to justify and satisfy the objectives of the study. The respondents of the study were twenty-seven (27) grade 10 students, 14 males and 13 females. The following are the results of the study: the majority of respondents were between the ages of 14 and 15, with 16 respondents or 59.26 percent, and most of the respondents were male with 14 respondents, or 51.85 percent. The respondents often use vocabulary learning strategies in terms of reading comprehension, learning styles and vocabulary knowledge. There was no significant difference on the perception of the respondents in using vocabulary learning strategies when profile is considered. The learning activities are designed by the researcher to enhance the vocabulary knowledge of Grade 10 students.
