USING INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY ON THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF GRADE 10

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to determine whether employing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Grade 10 students Araling Panlipunan is effective. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) was introduced to the curriculum of senior secondary schools in order to be in line with international best practices. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) now occupies a central position in the curriculum by presenting the total experiences to which all teachers and students must be exposed, and all experiences must be met. Additionally, the availability of teaching and learning resources for any subject is improved for efficient teaching and learning. This study utilized the descriptive method to determine the perceptions of the respondents on Using Information and Communication Technology on their Academic Performance in the said subject.

The respondents of the study were Twenty Seven (27) Junior High School students. The following are the results of the study: fifteen (15) or 55.6 percent of the respondents are ages 15, nine (9) or 33.3 percent of respondents are ages 16, and three (3) or 11.1 percent of respondents are ages 18. This demonstrates that the majority of the respondents are ages 15 and most of them are male. The students agree on Using Information and Communication Technology in terms of Collaborative Learning, Critical thinking Skills, Creative Learning, Cross-cultural Communication and Digital Citizenship. There was no significant difference on the perceptions of the respondents on the effectiveness of utilizing Information and Communication Technology on their academic performance in Araling Panlipunan. The Learning activity sheets are designed by the researcher based on the results of the study.
