ABSTRACT

This study aimed to assess the responses on Trifocal Approach in teaching Mathematics in Grade-III in Wawa Elementary School. Moreover, the study included the difficulties experienced by the parents and teachers on working together.

Nine (9) teachers teaching Mathematics 3 and One hundred eighty-seven (187) parents of Grade-III were purposively selected in this descriptive study. The data were analyzed using the frequency count and percentage, weighted mean, standard deviation, independent t-test, and F-test.

The study yields the following findings: Majority of the teacher-respondents belong in the early age bracket with most of them female teachers. Likewise, most of them are married and are taking MA/MS units. On the other hand, parent-respondents could be found in the middle age range and are mostly female, married, and finished high school. The responses of teacher-respondents on trifocal approach in teaching Mathematics in Grade-III in terms of parenting, communicating, and pupils’ learning is strongly agree. Meanwhile, parent-respondents agree on their responses on trifocal approach in teaching Mathematics in Grade-III in terms of parenting, communicating, and pupils’ learning. Both groups of respondents–the teachers and parents agree on their responses on difficulties they experienced on trifocal approach in teaching Mathematics in Grade-III. There is no significant difference on the responses of both respondent groups on trifocal approach in teaching Mathematics in Grade-III in terms of parenting, communicating and pupils’ learning when profile is considered. There is no significant difference on the responses of both respondent groups on the difficulties experienced on trifocal approach in teaching Mathematics in Grade-III when profile is considered. There is significant relationship between the responses of both groups of respondents in trifocal approach in teaching Mathematics in Grade-III and difficulties experienced on it. Proposed learning activities are designed by the researcher to intensify trifocal approach in teaching Mathematic in Grade-III.
