ABSTRACT

Times have changed indeed and the cost of living has gone up, families who want to have a better chance at life should have both parents employed. This is one reason why the roles of women have changed; most women now no longer remain in the shadows of men, and prefer to rise on their respective fields with flying colours. With these role changes, most women find it difficult to balance work and home, and some had to give up one thing to succeed in the other. It is with these reasons that the study was conducted. The method used was Phenomenological Study, Qualitative Research Design, where 15 working mother employees of Eastern Samar State University Guiuan Campus were chosen as respondents. They were asked to answer questionnaires, interviewed and attended Focus Group Discussion. Observations were also conducted. The results of the study concluded that being a working mother is very challenging and tiresome and requires a lot of patience. Based on those results, it is therefore recommended that women, who want to succeed in both career and family life, should know how to manage their time and make their family their inspiration.
