THE EFFECTS OF PTC ATTENDANCE TOWARDS PARENT-CHILD RELATIONSHIPS AS PERCEIVED BY THE

GRADE 10 PARENTS

        Positive parent-school communications benefits parents. The manner in which schools communicate and interact with parents affects the extent and quality of parent’s home involvement with their children’s learning…Parents develop a greater appreciation for the important role they play in their children’s education. Good quality education starts at home. Parent-Teacher Conference is a program that updated the parents about their children performance in school and enlightens the parents to be more responsible and how to teach their children at home, this study was conducted to determine the effects of the program to 50 parents with their relationship with their children, In order to gather data, the researcher used adapted instruments to measure the level of parent-child relationship in the opening of classes and at the end of second quarter. After five months, their output was analyzed weighted mean and chi-square was used in assessing the research output. This study concludes that the attending Parent-Teacher Conference was an effective intervention to improve Parent-Child Relationship. Lastly, this study recommends inclusion of the different stakeholders especially faculty members for a more effective implementation of the program, this program will also bridge the gap between parents and their children as well as to establish good communication between home and school to better achieve quality education.
