ABSTRACT

This study aimed to determine the effects of Android-based Instruction on Mathematics performance of Grade 10 students of Kibungsod National High School, Magsaysay District, Division of Misamis Oriental during the School Year 2019-2020. It specifically sought to assess the academic performance and attitude of learners towards mathematics; detemine the significant difference in academic performance of the learners in the pretest and posttest result between the control group and experimental group; and to know the implications of the findings of the study in teaching using android-based instruction to Grade 10 learners.

The respondents of this study were the two sections of Grade 10 comprised of a total of 64 learners. The pretest was given before they were introduced to android-based instruction and posttest was given during the culminating stage of the study. The pretest and posttest used in the study are aligned with the DepEd Order no. 8, s.2015, which stipulates the policy and guidelines on classroom assessment for the K to 12 basic education programs. The data gathered from the respondents were subjected to descriptive statistics such as mean, standard deviation, and T-test to describe the variables in the study. The findings of the study reveal that the experimental group improve in terms of their posttest result despite both groups having negative attitude towards mathematics. Thus, android-based instruction serves as a useful tool in improving the mathematics achievement of Grade 10 learners in Kibungsod National High School.
