ABSTRACT

Problem

The main purpose of this study was to determine the Big Five Personality Dimensions of the Public Elementary Schools in NCR: Base Reference for enhanced Pupil Development Program.

It sought to answer the following questions:

1. What is the profile of the teachers in terms:

1.1. Grade Level Taught

1.2. Type of School

1.3. Gender

1.4. Civil Status

1.5. Age

1.6. Length of Service

1.7. Highest Educational Attainment

2. How do teachers describe the pupils in terms of the following five factor personality dimensions?

1.1. Openness 

1.2. Conscientiousness

1.3. Extraversion

1.4. Agreeableness

1.5. Neuroticism

3. Is there a significant difference in the assessment of the big five personality dimensions when the respondents are grouped according to their profile?

4. What are the most common traits encountered by the teachers in terms of the pupils big five personality dimensions?

5. Based from the findings, what Pupil Development Program can be proposed?

Research Methodology

This study utilized the descriptive method of research. The respondents of the study were the four thousand twenty-six (4026) public school teachers selected in cluster from the sixteen (16) schools’ divisions in the national capital region. The most widely used big five personality inventory by Paul Costa and Robert McCrae was the instrument administered to the respondents.
