THE BAMBOO NATION

AUREA L. BURABOD

· Volume IV Issue I

It stands tall and serene,

Amidst the riot of foliages

Ever green, reed-thin proud

Soars high towards the sky.

Breezes and winds blow

Over its regal form

Blasts in disarray

Its leafy mien.

In ballerina fashion,

It merely dips and sways

Breaks not in the stormy rage

The bamboo blissfully stays.

The supple bamboo

Mirrors the Filipino Spirit

Resilient, flowing with the tide

In whatever chime.

Comes poverty and pandemic

From Pandora’s box unleashed

The nation grits its teeth-

But refuses to break

The storm may rage

Yet, the Bamboo Nation lives

Weaving dreams anew!

Cries: Better days ahead!
