SWOT ANALYSIS ON PUPIL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS IMPLEMENTED WITHIN THE DISTRICT OF MALVAR, DIVISION OF BATANGAS PROVINCE

ABSTRACT

This qualitative type of research study analyzed the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the implemented pupil development programs in the District of Malvar, Division of Batangas Province, SY 2014-2015. The respondents were all the school heads and selected teachers in different public elementary schools in the aforementioned district. Their responses in the guide interview questionnaires were summarized and interpreted via SWOT Analysis Matrix.

The analysis revealed that Academic Contests, MTAP-DepEd Saturday Mathematics Programs, Phil-IRI and Campus Journalism contribute to the pupils’ development of intellectual and leadership skills; that Sports, Scouting Movements and Feeding programs help develop the pupils’ physical skills; that Text2Teach (T2T) educational program and DepEd Computerization Program (DCP) strengthen the pupils’ technological awareness; and Integration of Gulayan sa Paaralan, Solid Waste Management and Tree Planting Under the National Greening Program (NGP) is leeway for the pupils’ enhancement of environmental awareness.

To improve further the pupil development programs, teachers must also improve the rendition of instructional services to the pupils. Health, physical education and scouting must be implemented to the best manner and widest extent possible. The schools must coordinate with government authorities, non-government organizations and private firms to solicit their assistance in terms of providing the technological needs. Periodical holding of seminar-workshop or symposium on the implementation of Integration of Gulayan sa Paaralan, Solid Waste Management and Tree Planting Under the National Greening Program (NGP) must be conducted in the schools for reinforcement of the lessons on environmental awareness learned by the pupils in the classroom.
