ABSTRACT
The study attempted to determine the relationship of the adversity quotient and organizational commitment to the performance of the public elementary school administrators in the Division of Bataan. Specifically, the study focused on finding the relationship of school administrators’ profile, Adversity Quotient®, organizational commitment of elementary school heads in the Division of Bataan to the school head’s performance S.Y 2017-2018 basis for improved school management framework.
This study employed quantitative methods of research to establish relationship between variables. This study also used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) that represents a series of cause-effect relationships between variables combined into composite testable models. To determine the level Adversity Quotient ®, respondents answered the AQ Profile® or Adversity Response Profile® developed by Dr. Paul G. Stoltz of Peak Learning, Inc., California. Consequently, to determine the Organizational Commitment, respondents answered a revised standardized questionnaire on Organizational Commitment, modified and validated by experts. Respondents were determine by using the G Power software. There were eighty-five (85) samples given the effect size of 0.15, alpha of 0.05 and statistical power of 0.80.
Findings showed that public elementary school administrators belong to the age group of 39 to 45 years old, most of them were female and married, educational attainment usually acquired MA units and MA Equivalent, 6-10 as school administrators while performance rating mostly were very satisfactory. In the average level of adversity quotient of school administrators with its four dimensions in terms of control, ownership, reach and endurance, most school administrators had strong gauge of resilience. Control had the highest mean among the four dimensions. Wherefore, in the Overall Respondent’s Assessment on the Adversity Quotient, school administrators had low level of adversity quotient. In terms of organizational commitment of the school administrators, most of them showed commitment to vision of profession while only few showed commitment to school performance. The relationship of sex, position and performance rating on the Adversity Quotient and Organizational Commitment failed to reject the Ho giving the decision of not significant. Consequently, the relationship of civil status, age, highest educational attainment and years as school administrators on the Adversity Quotient and Organizational Commitment rejected the Ho giving the decision of significant. There is significant relationship between Adversity Quotient to the performance Likewise, the relationship of Organizational Commitment to the performance is significant. Consequently, there is also significant relationship between Adversity Quotient to the Organizational Commitment. The findings imply that to improve the performance of school administrators, it is significant to improve the Adversity Quotient and Organizational Commitment.
