· Volume II Issue IV

(Purpose) The purpose of this study is to develop an intervention plan to increase the reading level of grade six learners.

(Methods) Descriptive statistics were utilized to determine frequency and percentage to describe the variables of study. The respondents were chosen were Grade 6 Acacia S.Y. 2020-2021.  Pre online reading scores of respondents were taken to acquire the information to be compared. Then, the researcher conducted online reading sessions with the learners and utilization of intervention materials through home-based learning with the assistance of parents/guardians was done under the intervention plan proposed. After several months, online post reading assessment was done. Scores after the utilization of crafted intervention materials were collected, analyzed, tabulated, and interpreted for statistical treatment.

(Findings) On reading level of the Grade Six Acacia before utilization of intervention plan, it can be gleaned from the table that only 3 learners (8 %) of the class were independent readers, 19 learners (51 %) belonged to instructional level and 15 out of 37 learners (41%) were in frustration level or slow readers. On reading level of the Grade Six Acacia after utilization of intervention plan, the data showed that 12 learners (32 %) of the class became independent readers, 20 learners (54 %) belonged to instructional level and 5 out of 37 learners (14%) remained to be in frustration level or slow readers. This showed that intervention plan is effective in increasing the level of reading skills of learners.

(Values) Researcher wants to propose intervention plan to improve level of reading skills among learners.
