ABSTRACT
The aimed of this study was to determine the environmental benefits and economical benefits of solar panels.
This study used the descriptive method of research, specially, a survey type. Purposive sampling was utilized since the respondent were small which composed of all 16 students a secondary, a fourth year graduating student school year 2016-2017.
The finding showed that the top three Environmental benefits of solar panels are: There are two environmental benefits were tied these are: solar energy absorbed by the solar panels considered as the cleanest energy and solar panels do not produce harmful substances to the environment followed by solar panels do not create noise pollution. The finding also revealed using solar panels can reduce the amount of pollutant to human health.
The findings also discovered the top 3 economical benefits are: Solar panels provide unlimited supply of solar energy and electrical energy from the solar panels is free, meaning no need to pay and also that by using solar panels, homes and business expenditures on electricity will be lessened. Findings also revealed that solar panels have no operating cost.
It is greatly recommended that the administrator must install solar panels on roof top of newly constructed science and mathematics building that can supply and distribute power in the classroom particularly the laboratory room for the maintenance of facilities.
INTRODUCTION
It was observed that technology development in this part of the country was slow due to the fact that power supply like electricity generated by local electric cooperative was not enough to sustain the great demand of its clientele. Intermittent power brownouts were usually experienced because of such deficiency of power supply.
In MSU – Sulu for instance where the writer was studying, the constant power interruption has affected much its quest to become highly technical and globally competitive educational institution. Compared to other campuses of MSU system, the school was lag behind, in terms of technology development, despite the fact that the school was focusing in technology as derived from its original name “MSU – Sulu Development and Technical College”.
It was in this background that the writer came up with an idea, researching alternative source of power that could improve and steadily maintain the power supply of MSU – Sulu. Solar energy is one alternative energy source that would be converted to electricity by the use of solar panels. Most solar panels are using silicon to produce the panels. This method allows us to generate additional electricity which can be fed into our current power systems, which will have the effect of reducing consumption from the local electric company, saving money in the process. The electricity generated from solar panels is presently economical and it is a source of clean, cheap, and renewable energy for our homes. Furthermore, solar panels help reduce reliance on fossil fuels and other depleting resources that are used to generate electricity.
