SOCIO-CULTURAL IMPACT OF SUGBUAN FESTIVAL IN NASUGBU, BATANGAS

Sugbuan Festival is a feast held annually in honor of St. Francis Xavier concluding on the third day of May in the town of Nasugbu ,Batangas .This study aimed to determine the socio-cultural impact of the festival. Specifically, it described the profile of the respondents: assess the socio-cultural impact of the festival in terms of spiritual, educational, social and recreational. Significant relationship is also determine between the socio-cultural and profile of the respondents impact. The researcher employed a descriptive method, interview and document analysis. Data questionnaire was utilized in this research. The descriptive study involved 100 respondents composed of residents young and old who where selected using purposive sampling method. Results revealed that Sugbuan Festival had a socio-cultural impact in the lives of Nasugbuenos. A plan of action was proposed to enhance and promote the socio-cultural heritage of the festival.
