PROJECT SIMULA : DEVELOPING THE CVC WORD RECOGNITION LEVEL OF K-3 LEARNERS

This study aims to assess the word recognition level of K to 3 learners and identify the common miscues they encounter in terms of reading CVC word patterns. The respondents of the study are 168 pupils from Kinder to Grade 3 S.Y 2018-2019. Using the descriptive quantitative research design the researcher was able to gather data and present information in a logical and systematic way. Frequency count, percentage and rank served as the statistical tools used by the researcher to organize the results of the study.On the other hand, findings revealed that 49.40% of the learners are under frustration level while 29.76% and 18.45% made it to the instructional and independent level respectively. It also shows that the three most common miscues they encountered are mispronounciation, repetition and omission.Nevertheless, the research serves as reference in developing a project that will help teacher to develop the K to 3 learners’ word recognition level specifically in terms of CVC word pattern.
