PARTICIPATION OF TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS OF LEMERY DISTRICT IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

This study was undertaken to determine the extent of participation of teachers and administrators in Lemery District towards the development of the barangays served as assessed by themselves for the school year 2013 – 2014.

The study sought to answer the following questions:

1. How did the administrators and teachers assess their participation in community development along the following aspects:

1.1 economic programs;

1.2 environment projects;

1.3 health programs;

1.4 literacy activities;

1.5 socio – civic activities and

1.6 sports development?

2. What was the over – all level of assessment of teachers and administrators on their participation towards the development of the communities in their school?

3. Were there significant differences between the assessments of the two groups of respondents on the extent of participation in community development?

4. What program of activities should be proposed to enhance the participations of teachers and school administrators in community development?

The respondents of this study were 167 elementary school teachers who have been serving for five years and above and 24 elementary school administrators in all public elementary schools of Lemery District, Division of Batangas.

Frequency, percentage, ranking, weighted mean and t – test Q of significance were applied in the treatment of the analyzed and interpreted data.
