OPERATIONALIZATION OF SCHOOL-BASED MANAGEMENT (SBM) PRACTICE ASSESSMENT AMIDST PANDEMIC IN

ABSTRACT

School- based management (SBM) is a strategy to improve education by transferring significant decision-making authority from the Central Office to individual schools. This study utilizes descriptive methods of research involving one hundred fifty- two (152) teachers. The following are the results of the study: the respondents strongly agree on the status of the School-Based Management (SBM) as operationalized in different elementary schools. The performance of the schools is very satisfactory in terms of enrolment rate, dropout rate, retention rate and completion rate. The respondents strongly agree on the operationalization of SBM program amidst covid-19 pandemic in terms of four principles such as, leadership and governance, curriculum and learning, accountability and continuous improvement and management of resources. There is no significant relationship between the evaluation of SBM program and enrolment rate as school performance. However, there is significant relationship observe in leadership and governance and dropout rate. Furthermore, there is significant relationship exist on management of resources and completion rate and retention rate. There is no significant relationship between the status of operationalization and evaluation of SBM program as to leadership and governance and management of resources. However, there is significant relationship exist on the operationalization and evaluation of SBM program as to curriculum and learning and accountability and continuous improvement. Linear equation model is crafted based on the operationalization of SBM program and school performance. Since the model has an acceptable measure of fit and found a mediating impact on the relationship of retention rate and completion rate to the school performance.
