ABSTRACT
Teachers play a crucial role in nation-building. Through quality of teachers, Philippines can develop holistic learners who are globally competitive, well molded with values, and equipped with 21st-century skills. It is imperative to have teachers well-prepared and equipped not just with knowledge but also with skills on how to deal with learners, colleagues, environment, so as with the overwhelming tasks given by the Department of Education. Since the new school-year opened, a lot of new teachers are being hired to fill positions in various schools. Moreover, a quantity of teachers is being looked for due to massive population of learners, leading to urgency of hiring. This study sought to understand the challenges being faced by newly-hired teachers so as their coping strategies to suggest trainings for personal and professional growth. Qualitative Approach was used, along with the semi-structured interview upon data gathering. It was found out that the challenges being faced by the newly-hired teachers are mastery, teaching strategies for diverse learners and classroom management. However, they have developed their coping strategies like adaptation of the new environment, time management, coaching and mentoring and positive reframing. These paved ways to the suggested trainings for development.
