ABSTRACT

The main purpose of this study was to determine the level of motivation and readiness among psychometrician candidates in a quantitative aspect. The Motivational Enhancement and Readiness Acknowledgement Programme presented as an action plan was proposed to enhance and strengthen the motivation and readiness of self-directed learners in the preparation for the psychometrician board licensure examination. This study utilized random sampling and G*Power to compute the sample size. The respondents of the study were 140 psychometrician candidates. The study utilized adapted instruments such as the Academic Motivation Scale (AMS) and Self-Directed Learning Readiness (SDLR) for the gathering of data. Statistical tools used were the four-point Likert Scale, the percentage formula, mean formula, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient.

Findings revealed that the levels of motivation and readiness were very high among the psychometrician candidates for batch 2019-2021. The level of intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation was significantly related to the readiness of self-directed learners in terms of awareness and learning strategies for the preparation for the board examination.
