ABSTRACT

This action research aims to determine the effectivity of the computer application SAVE (Strength-Based Academic Viability Evaluator) in decreasing the dropping-out and shifting-out rates in Villanueva Senior High School. SAVE is a computer program that will allow Grade 11 learners to determine their interests and skills and match it with the current senior high school offerings of the school that the researcher is presently connected. The participants in this study were fifty (50) Grade 10 learners from San Martin Integrated School (SMIS) Junior High School department for the school year 2021 - 2022, since they are the ones who will most likely enrol in Villanueva Senior High School for their eleventh grade. A comparison of data was also done on the drop-out and shifting-out rates of Villanueva Senior High School two years prior to the implementation of SAVE and the data for the present school year (for three consecutive months) based on the LIS and SF4. The number of students who dropped out after the implementation of the intervention, which is school year 2021 – 2022 shows a decline in the drop-out rates for both Grade 11 and Grade 12 levels. It can be concluded that the SAVE intervention has really helped in addressing the concerns of dropping out and shifting out of students in Villanueva Senior High School.
