MATCHING OF CBMA GRADUATES TO THE INDUSTRY SECTOR AND LABOR MARKET

ABSTRACT

This study was conducted on the graduates of Laguna State Polytechnic University Santa Cruz Main Campus, Santa Cruz Laguna with a total of 151 respondents. Descriptive method was used in this study. The researcher used a 35 items checklist to determine the effects of the variables. The study answers the following questions: (1) How do these factors influence the Job Mismatch in the CBMA Graduates Batch 2010-2015? Skill level, Educational Qualification, Personal Preference and Expertise. (2) What are the effects of Job Mismatch in the CBMA Graduates Batch 2010-2015? In terms of Socio-economic Status, Career Development and Job Satisfaction. (3) Is there a significant effect of Job Mismatch on the Socio-economic Status of CBMA Graduates Batch 2010-2015? The research instruments that were being used is the questionnaires and the Likert scale namely: 5= Very High, 4= High, 3= Moderately High, 2= Low, and lastly 1= Very Low. Based on the result findings, the investigation has drawn this conclusion. The level of the factors influencing job mismatch in terms of Skill Level was rated as “High”, it can be said that the graduates are able to use their skills in the job that they have. Next is the Educational Qualification which was rated as “High”, it can be said that the graduates’ knowledge and experience match the demands of his job? Another is the Personal Preference which was rated as “High”, it can be said that the graduates prefer to stay and work in their current job. And the Expertise which was rated as “High”, it can be said that the graduates’ are able to do their work easier since they have the expertise in their field of work. The level of effects of job mismatch in terms of Socio-economic Status was rated as “High”, it can be said the socio-economic status of the graduates has improved since they started their current employment. Next is the Career Development which was rated as “High”, it can be said that the graduates’ continue to improve and develop their skills and knowledge in the job that they currently have. And the Job Satisfaction which was rated as “Very High”, it can be said that the graduates are satisfied in their current job and their working environment. The Independent Variables which are factors influencing Job Mismatch such as Skill Level, Educational Qualification, Personal Preference and Expertise have “Significant effects” to the Dependent Variables which are composed of Socio-economic Status, Career Development and Job Satisfaction.

Based on the conclusions and findings the recommendations are presented below. The researcher suggests that the graduates should take up Master of Business Administration to further enhance their knowledge and skills that will lead to better benefits in their job. The researcher suggests that the graduates should maintain and keep their job as it gives them a stable status and satisfaction in their life. The Government should produce more jobs that matches an individual’s job skills.
