ABSTRACT
This study aimed to identify level of acceptability and status of school based immunization of parents in Barangay Pantalan, Nasugbu, Batangas. The respondents of the study were composed of sixty-seven (67) females and nine (9) male parents of pupils that studying at Pantalan Elementary School.
The descriptive research designed was used in this study. Survey sampling technique was used in order to meet the criteria for selecting the qualified participant. To gather the needed data, the researcher developed a structured research made- questionnaire patterned from the questions raised in the Statement of the Problem and with the guidance of the research adviser. The questionnaire checklist underwent face validation by selected professionals in rural health Unit and was tested for internal consistency using Cronbach’s Alpha.
Majority of the respondents were female, with the aged range between 26-35 years old that belonged to high school graduate, with the economic income of 1,001-5000.
The result of this study showed that the numbers of immunizations received by the pupils of Pantalan Elementary School are five (5) broken down as Four (4) or 4.65 percent doses of measles rubella and one (1) or 1.16 percent dose of tetanus diphtheria.
The level of acceptability of school-based immunization among parents of pupils in Barangay Pantalan, the composite mean obtained by all items was 3.77 which were interpreted as strongly agree. As indicated by the high weighted mean scores obtained which revealed that the immunizations were strongly agreed. Least was Item No. 3 Immunization has the ability to reach large numbers of children in a short period of time, with weighted mean 3.54 and Item No. 4 when a person is vaccinated; others are also protected, with weighted mean 3.53.
With regards to the significant difference in the acceptability of school-based immunization of parents of pupil the p-value of 0.000 is lesser to the significant value of 0.05 for the profile of the respondents namely age, gender, economic status and educational attainment.
