ABSTRACT

This study determined the extent of leadership practices in sustaining a school technology innovation. The results of the study may be used to provide an Action Plan. The teacher-respondents' profile will be considered in the study. The study was based on the age, sex, technology innovation undertaken and professional development of teachers. To solve the problems posed in the study, the researcher made use of Frequency Distribution and Percentage to determine the number of cases and proportion of responses relative to the whole in each categories of the profile of age, sex, and technology innovation undertaken.  The Weighted Mean determined the extent of leadership practices in sustaining a school technology innovation. Lastly, Pearson r was used to determine significant relationships between the extent of leadership practices in sustaining a school technology innovation when grouped according to the teacher-respondents’ profile. The following conclusions were drawn: 1) Most teachers are already late adults and going seniors. The school lacks fresh recruits. Most teachers are, as always, females. The teachers are highly trained in using social media or VR in education as a result of highly powerful marketing strategies used to increase the prevalence of said usages. Some are trained in other more specialized technological innovations. 2) As times demand that educational systems change and adapt accordingly, so too do educational institutions decide to exert selective pressure on its employees and faculty to encourage and support them in technologically innovating for the sake of their students. Because the support of the educational institutions is always present in favor of technological innovation, it is therefore imperative and likewise only natural for these educational institutions to have such strong fervor and opinions towards greater professional development. It is important that the ability of the teachers and students to continue the learning education must not be hampered across technological barriers. The most important thing in consideration of technological innovations is the retention or the improvement of learning potential. There is a thin line of demarcation between useful technological innovations that end up increasing productivity, and cluttered technologies that only serve as mere formality but offer no real use. This is important for every school administrator and every teacher who practices technological innovation in their classroom settings. Young administrators or school head’s, their sex, and the technology innovation undertaken is dependent on the type of leadership practices they employ. Moreover, the school’s extent of technology innovation that is implemented especially in the time of crisis or pandemic is reflective of the school heads leadership practices that is verbalized by the school head. Recommendations are presented and discussed in the manuscript.

Therefore, the concept in this study extrapolated from said theory in that that the schools with better leadership practices tend to have better and more sustained innovation in the world of technology.

This study will determine the extent of leadership practices in sustaining a school technology innovation, as assessed by the teachers. The results of the study may be used to provide an Action Plan. Specifically, the following questions will be answered: 1) What is the profile of the teacher- respondents in terms of age, sex, technology innovation undertaken?; 2) What is the assessment on the extent of leadership practices in sustaining a school technology innovation classified as Supportive environment for technology use, Professional development, Teaching and learning, and Impact of technology?; 3) Is there a significant relationship between the extent of leadership practices in sustaining a school technology innovation when grouped according to the teacher-respondents’ profile?; 4) What Action Plan may be proposed?

The study works on the hypothesis that there is a significant relationship between the extent of leadership practices in sustaining a school technology innovation when grouped according to the teacher-respondents’ profile.

This work is limited to Binangonan II district and only to teacher-respondents. The study will provide significant benefits primarily to these teachers and to their students for whose welfare the teachers work. This will likewise benefit the Department of Education which will reap the benefits when the school administrators eventually become more and more aware of their impact on the overall school performance through the sustained technological innovation.

In this study, the following will be operationally defined:

Professional Development. This refers to the development of the professionals in such a way that their skills, attitudes, and aptitude for the job at hand is increased as a result and consequence of good office ethics.

Supportive Environment. This refers to the work environment which caters and pushes for the professional development of its members.

Technology. This refers to any device or invention that allows access to the digital world which makes tasks easier.
