INTEGRATION OF CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION CONCEPTS IN TEACHING

ABSTRACT

The study focused on the integration of Climate Change Adaptation concepts in teaching agriculture. Video material presentations on climate change adaptation were integrated in selected topics in Grade 9 Agriculture (Agricultural Crop Production NCI). Students’ academic performance, CCA concept awareness and environmental values development were assessed.

Descriptive-evaluative and development methods were employed in the study involving 30 students as respondents. Methodology were composed of three phases, the preparatory phase, execution phase and evaluation phase.

Results revealed that the integration of CCA concepts using video presentation improved the academic performance, level of awareness on CCA and development of attitudes among students. The video presentation was found an effective means of integrating CCA concepts in teaching Agriculture. The study proved that agriculture education can be an important tool in promoting climate change adaptation, and environmental advocacy.
