CONTEXT AND RATIONALE
The demand of education sector requires the teacher who is an active agent in the process to be always abreast in the latest trend and development in teaching and learning techniques, strategies and approaches. There are many ways by which a committed educator can do this, better opportunities which will be offered to teachers to enrich oneself and enabling one to work effectively.
The teachers create an impact as to whether or not the students have captured the concepts of the said subject every time, they deliver certain topics. The interest felt by the students depend on how the teacher clearly presented the topics. Different methodologies and strategies in teaching will vary on what type of learner is being taught. The teacher’s flexibility most probably is one of the qualities of a good teacher. However, the success of learning will be on the kind of teacher-student interaction where supervision and flexibility is important.
Teachers are always fond of knowing the improvements they have to enhance with regards to their teaching skills. A teacher must also be interested in what they are teaching and do not mind on how much time is involved in achieving their objectives as long as they seek for better outcomes. A committed teacher is not pre-occupied with one’s self, but rather seek other means on how to serve the larger society- the country and its people.
Likewise, student participation is also vital in order to attain better understanding of the lesson. Student’s interest on the other hand and active participation during class discussion are essential part of an effective classroom situation. According to Gardner and Tamir (1989a): The term "interest" usually refers to preference to engage in some types of activities rather than others. An interest may be regarded as a highly specific type of attitude: When we are interested in a particular phenomenon or activity, we are favorably inclined to attend to it and give time to it (p. 410).
Hence, this research entails to identify what is the impact of ICT related activities in enhancing student’s literacy skills among grade 9 Fibonacci while assess the difficulties that every learner’s encountered in class. This is the bridge that they use to cross over successfully into the new century where challenges are tough into what we call “empires of the future”. It is in this premise that the researchers undertook this study.
