FILIPINO LANGUAGE: A REFLECTION OF GREAT HISTORY

by: CRISANTO A. DAING

· Volume VI Issue I

In a place where the skies and islands meet,

A language blossoms, our hearts beat.

Filipino language, an intricate web,

Brightly scattered in the culture’s fabric spread.

From the coast of Mindanao to Luzon,

A symphony of old stories, rich composition

A story in every syllable, there is,

Of heroes strong and lullabies.

Spanish flair in a Tagalog heart,

An unparalleled tongue, truly an art

Evident it is in Baybayin's script,

Profound identity can never be ripped!

Songs of the seas in Visayas sand,

Ilocano legends of untamed land.

From the Cebuano’s sprightly voices

To Waray’s call with love and kisses.

Austronesian call echoes

Through dialects, both great and small one knows,

In the soft air of Ilonggo’s breeze

The comfort of kin, the sense of peace.

Traditions endure with every word,

The past is known and future’s heard,

The melodies and chants of our ancestors,

A beacon of hope for new successors.

In our language, unity is found,

A bridge where our minds and hearts are bound.

Despite our differences, we stand as one.

Under the same, radiant sun.

Now, let us adore, let us sing.

In Filipino, let our voices ring!

A mirror of our great history,

A radiant reflection of one good story!
