FILIPINO: A LANGUAGE THAT DEITIES SPEAK

AND WRITE

by: DENNIS C. GERODIAS, MAEd

· Volume VI Issue I

In the heart of thousand islands,

One culture binds everything it calls.

In the rivers that flow among these,

One culture touches millions of souls.

This culture sings the glory of dawn,

From the highest skyscrapers of Luzon,

‘Til the dusk, the colors of Visayas vow,

And shines through the verdant mountains of Mindanao.

These words that speak a majestic symphony,

Embrace timeless stories which have been told.

Passed through the souls, and evolved with time,

This treasure is worth more than piles of gold.

Tagalog, a song of elegance and fascination,

Cebuano, a rhythm of glory and might,

Ilocano, a thread of colors and inspiration,

Hiligaynon, an art of the divine sight.

Bicol, a tale of vibrant creation,

Waray, a hymn of resilience and pride,

Kapampangan, the voice of triumph and grace,

Pangasinense, a harmony where beauty and glory reside.

Though these languages differ by words and origins,

These masterpieces share these qualities that bind them together.

They are all what makes the majestic “Filipino”

A language of honor, liberty, and grandeur.

Filipino languages surpass the value of wealth,

It embodies legacy, history, and victory.

Across the archipelago, we are all called by a single word,

“Filipino,” diverse but united, bound and graced by glory.

Across the horizon, it mirrors how rich our culture is,

From the words we speak to the values we embody.

Remember to enliven each of these as a weapon for our fight,

Filipino language and culture, an art of magnificence that deities speak and write.
