ABSTRACT

The study determined the difficulties in oral communication among Grade 11 Students at Nasugbu East Senior High School, Brgy. Lumbangan, Nasugbu, Batangas, Academic Year 2022-2023. Descriptive research method was employed in the study that involved two hundred fifty-two (252) Grade 11 students currently enrolled in oral communication subject.

The findings revealed that respondents disagree with their assessment on academic oral communication relative to appropriateness and brevity; however, agree with the assessment in the quality of oral ommunication in terms of clarity and vividness from the aforementioned aspect. Moreover, the respondents agree that internal and external factors affect the performance in oral communication. All the common difficulties in oral communication relative to language use, topic knowledge, organization, and speech delivery have been assessed as serious by the respondents.

Furthermore, there is no significant relationship between the assessment of academic oral communication and common difficulties in oral communication, except on the aspects of organization and speech delivery coupled with significant relationships in clarity and vividness to topic knowledge. Based from the findings, instructional activities are proposed to enhance academic performance in oral communication among Grade 11 students at Nasugbu East Senior High.
