ABSTRACT

The main objective of this phenomenological inquiry was to explore the lived experience of company managers of private companies in Calamba City concerning their workplace conflicts among their subordinate employees. The study utilized the qualitative research design with phenomenology as an approach. In the conduct of this qualitative research, the researcher used purposive sampling. The researcher selected ten (10) private company managers to be her participants through purposeful random sampling. In gathering pertinent information, the researcher used a semi-structured interview instrument for the participants.

To explore the workplace conflicts that they experienced, ten themes emerged: Administration Roles, Operational Tasks, Decision-Making and Leadership Skills, Maintaining Professional Relationship, Low Work Productivity, Misunderstanding and Lack of Communication, High Stress Level, Feel Pressured, Good Communication, and The 3C’s of Conflict Management.

It is recommended that company executives be skilled communicators. This involves encouraging staff to communicate about work concerns and developing an open communication climate in their unit. Listening to employee issues will help to create a more open environment. By asking questions and concentrating on their perception of the problem, ensure that corporate managers truly comprehend what subordinate employees are expressing. Additional training and workshops emphasizing the value of professionalism and work passion may be suggested. This may assist deviant subordinate employees in getting back on track. A stronger appraisal, recognition, and promotion program may be offered to highlight their strengths and areas for improvement. Future researchers may do similar qualitative studies. This time, taking the side of the subordinate employees in terms of the workplace conflict phenomena.
