ABSTRACT
PURPOSE
This study aims to evaluate the level of cybersecurity awareness and user compliance among the teaching and non-teaching personnel of Batangas National High School and to establish Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) as a response to the arising problem in Information Security.
DESIGN/ METHODOLOGY
Descriptive method of research was used to gather relevant data which can be used for the purpose of the study. An online survey questionnaire for the teaching and non-teaching personnel of Batangas National High School was used to determine their level of cybersecurity awareness and user compliance and identify whether there is a need to establish CERT for the school community.
FINDINGS
The study revealed that there was a great need to establish Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) that will serve as human anti-virus for Batangas National High School. Though there was a webinar held for cyber awareness entitled “Focus on What Matters to You: Be Cybersafe in Cyberspace”, teaching and non-teaching personnel need to fully understand what cybersecurity is, the associated risks and threats, how to mitigate the risks, best security practices, and how to properly handle security incidents.
CERT will be responsible for all the above-mentioned computer-related problems and will educate the personnel how to protect their asset and protect themselves in cyberworld. This team will reduce the cost of computer repairs owned by the teaching and non-teaching personnel of BNHS and will give free consultation about cyberattacks and cybercrimes that are very rampant nowadays.
RESEARCH LIMITATIONS
This study focused on evaluating the level of cybersecurity awareness and user compliance among the teaching and non-teaching personnel of Batangas National High School.
PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS
Organizing a Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) will serve as a human-antivirus among the assets of the school and of the teaching and non-teaching personnel
ORIGINALITY/VALUE
CERT is a valuable team that an organization should have because Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has been a major player in our day-to-day activities and to the educational system today.
