ABSTRACT
Reading comprehension is a fundamental skill in language learning, essential for effective communication and academic success. This research delves into the efficacy of utilizing peer discussion groups as a guided learning activity to enhance reading comprehension skills among Grade 9 students. Educators and researchers have investigated various instructional approaches to improve reading comprehension over the years, and one such strategy that has gained prominence is the use of peer group discussions. This research aims to explore and evaluate the different strategies to enhance reading comprehension skills and provide insights into how these strategies can be applied inside the classroom. The study utilized qualitative research methods, with the researcher striving to address the research problem, and to validate and fulfill the study's objectives. The respondents of the study were 15 Grade 9 students. The following are the results of the study: with 15 respondents of 9 males and 6 females. The respondents often use the strategies to enhance their reading comprehension skills in terms of questioning, brainstorming and group discussions. There is a significant relationship between enhancing reading comprehension skills using peer discussion group of students and the challenges encountered on it. The learning activities are designed by the researcher to enhance the reading comprehension skills of Grade 9 students.
