ENHANCING PEER RELATIONSHIPS AMONG TEACHERS AND PARENTS IN BALAYAN

ABSTRACT

The study was a Descriptive Quantitative Method of Research that tends to determine the factors affecting the peer relationships among teachers and parents in Balayan National High School. The study has been conducted in the school wherein the data were collected and gathered from ninety three (93) teachers employed in Balayan National High School who have a direct interaction with the parents using comprehensive self-made survey questionnaire. The responses of the respondents have been statistically treated and interpreted using descriptive statistics such mean, and standard deviation. Also, inferential statistics has been utilized to test the significant relationship among the given variables. The findings of the study relevant to the factors affecting the peer relationships among teachers and parents has been divided into seven (7) categories such as communication, cultural sensitivity, socioeconomic, parents’ involvement, teachers’ workload, school policies, and conflict resolution. The study revealed that there is a significant relationship with the determined factors affecting the peer relationships among teachers and parents when profile of the respondents was taken as test factors. Based on the result of the study, an enhancement program has been developed and named as “Project KALINGA” to further bridge the relationship gap between teachers and parents. In addition, this will help the institution to enhance the strong bonding with the parents and teachers as well as with the school administrators in creating various improvement programs, projects, and activities for the continuous delivery of quality education in Balayan National High School within the Balayan East Sub-Office.
