ABSTRACT

Aim: This paper compared the effectiveness of writing the electronic configuration of elements, Aufbau, and Extended Periodic Table methods using a conceptual framework.

Methodology: Two-day sessions were conducted in three chemistry classes chosen at random. Validated pre-test, interviews, and questionnaires were the instruments used in the study. To compare the effectiveness of the two methods, the mean, and the weighted mean was used as a tool.

Result: The results revealed that there is a highly significant difference in the mean scores of the two methods. The level of performance in the extended periodic table method is greater compared to the Aufbau method.

Conclusion: Extended periodic table method of writing the electronic configuration of elements is more effective than the Aufbau method.
