BECS Kicks-Off 2017 Brigada Eskwela
Event Highlights Spirit of Volunteerism

The DepEd Schools Division of Batangas kicked-off the 2017 school’s maintenance week at Balayan East Central School with the theme “Isang DepEd, Isang Pamayanan Para sa Handa at Ligtas na Paaralan” which displays the burning passion of community stakeholders in making the school ready for the resumption of classes, May 15-20.

Spearheaded by Mr. Avelino B. Mortel, Balayan PSDS and Dr. Loida P. Rosales, School Principal III, the host school is a two-time National Brigada Eskwela Implementer awardee under the exceptional category.

The activity began with a caravan which started from the Schools Division Office.

Asst. SDO’s Dr. Hermogenes M. Panganiban and Dr. Felizardo Bolaños led the attendees who were from the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID), School Governance & Operation Division (SGOD), and Education Public Supervisors (EPS) Public Schools District Supervisors (PSDS) teaching force of the different districts from Areas I-IV both from the Elementary and Secondary Schools, and various stakeholders.

During the opening program, Dr. Panganiban acknowledged the personalities behind the success of the event and focusing on the main goal of the Brigada Eskwela that is to holistically develop each child and to upgrade both the physical and academic aspects of the Department of Education.

“The main objective of the program can be achieved through the humility, good management and performance of the school leaders,” Dr. Panganiban added.

He also emphasized that a leader should have the confidence to stand alone as quoted by Abraham Lincoln.

At the last part of his message, he insisted to put God at the center of all these undertakings for He is our guide and the source of our strength.

On the other hand, Balayan Town Mayor Emmanuel Salvador P. Fronda Jr. also graced the event to show his full support to the DepEd programs and projects.

He said that through unity coupled with commitment and dedication, Balayan East Central School was able to attain the highest award as National Brigada Eskwela Implementer awardee under the Exceptional Category for two consecutive years.

He also added that his office will give his 100% support to BECS in its journey to the road to be Hall of Fame Award the same way with the three barrio schools in the district who will also compete in the said event.

To cope with the financial demands of these schools, Mayor Fronda pledged to donate his two-month salary amounting to Php 100,000.00 to be divided evenly to the competing schools.

He also extended the manpower assistance of the Local Government Units (LGUs) in whatever activities the schools will demand.

The last part of the program was the carrying out of the BE activities at Balayan Senior High School situated at Brgy. Caloocan Balayan, Batangas where all the BE coordinators in the whole Division proceeded to the site.
