ADDRESSING THE LANGUAGE BARRIER OF ELEMENTARY PUPILS BASIS FOR

LEARNING ACTIVITY SHEETS

ABSTRACT

This study is about addressing language barrier of elementary pupils. The findings of the study served as a basis for learning activity sheets in addressing the language barrier of elementary pupils in reading comprehension, the english language as medium of instruction and grammar. This study utilized sixteen (16) teachers using the english language as their mode of instruction in teaching.

The findings of this study revealed that the respondents were 41-50 the majority of the respondents were females, married and have been teaching for 6-10 years, bachelor’sdegree, and mostly in Teacher I or II. Majority of the teachers who use english as mode of instruction who experienced or encountered language barrier when teacher their students as mode of instruction or as directions in their activity sheets that they have prepared for the pupils. The respondents strongly agree in bridging the language barriers to have an active reader and efficient learner by means of improving their reading comprehension, ability to understand the mode of instruction and their grammar. There is no significant difference in addressing the language barriers of elementary pupils when their profile in considered.

There was no significant difference in the perceptions of the english teachers on addressing the language barriers in elementary pupils based on their profile variables. A learning activity sheets was designed to help with mitigating and bridging the language barriers in elementary grades.
